CG BANDITS SNATCH $400,000 FROM GUYSUCO EMPLOYEE

VICTIM WAS WALKING TO WORK WITH MONEY WHEN BANDITS STRUCK.

A Guysuco employee was brazenly robbed on Wednesday by two bandits riding a CG 750 model motorcycle. The Woman, Geetanjalie Sookraj who works at Guysuco’s Information System Department was apparently trailed by the two bandits who appeared to be no older than in their mid-twenties. The robbery occurred around 13.50 hrs on the calm Camp Street in full view of two Guyana Times reporters.

Sookraj was pushed down by the bandit who was the pillion rider while the other bandit stopped a short distance on Quamina Street going east. After a scuffle between the woman and the bandit, a haversack bag containing $400,000 was snatched from Sookraj.

Sookraj seeing passersby started screaming for help, by this time mechanics from a Shop located on Quamina street were alerted and came out to assist but the bandit turned the motorcycle around with his accomplice and headed in the opposite direction towards Tiger Bay.

The traumatized woman related that she went to the bank to make the personal transaction at Republic Bank but did not notice the men. She stated that this was not the first time she made such transaction. The stolen haversack contained two identification cards, one bank card, two cell phones along with the cash and a number of other personal things belonging to Sookraj.
