VIGILANCE WOMAN BUTCHERED

Sorry Guys for updating late. My Internet is not really working. Here's the biggest in the news right now.

Dead: Deon Stephens

A vigilance woman was butchered by her reputed husband of seven years. The two were separated just days before after a quarrel at a family gathering of the deceased. Dead is 31 year old Deon Stephens, a security guard with the Neal and Massey Group of companies.

The woman was attacked while coming out of her mother's bathroom located behind the one bedroom shack on Monday night. She was stabbed 22 times and her stomach was ripped down according to relatives. The woman was mother to four children (none for the suspect). As she was attacked her mother Desiree Stephens told Guyana Times that she held onto the knife in the man's hand but she was pushed out of the way. The victim's son also broke a bottle and stabbed the man but he too was pushed aside while the suspect continued his deadly assault.

The suspect was rumoured to have committed suicide on Palm Dam in Buxton. However, Police were unable to locate his body or the man in self up to Wednesday.

The brutality of this killing is just one that lies among many committed against women in Guyana.

We need to act against this scourge as Guyanese collectively for our women.
