Legal Affairs Minister Charles Ramson said that the Judicial Service Commission never had written rules. He highlighted the need for rules in the JSC for its members. Some of the rules proposed are transparency of assets, gifts and favours, and others such as granting of various categories of leave.
AFC parliamentarian Khemraj Ramjattan while supporting the motion said that this motion came about after government was pressured to act. However PPP member Anand Nandalall refuted these claims and said that the motion was in the pipline since 2005.
The vote is yet to be taken to pass the motion. The motion is carried based on majority votes.
